Board Aliases
Boards sometimes go by more than one name. Your Select Board might also be called the Board of Selectmen in older documents or casual conversation. Your Conservation Commission might get shortened to ConCom.
When you create or edit a board, you can add aliases — alternate names MuniMins should recognize. During processing, the AI uses aliases to correctly associate discussion with the right board, especially when speakers reference other boards by informal names.
How to add aliases
Go to Boards, click on the board name to edit it, and enter aliases in the Aliases field. Separate multiple aliases with commas. Example: "Board of Selectmen, BOS, Selectmen."
When aliases help
- A speaker says "when the selectmen discussed this last month" and you're processing Planning Board minutes. MuniMins knows "selectmen" refers to your Select Board.
- Historical minutes reference "Board of Selectmen" but your board is now "Select Board."
- Meeting recordings use shorthand like "FinCom" or "ZBA."
You don't need to add every possible variation. Focus on the names people actually use in meetings.
